When the mimosa pudica plant is stimulated by heat, wind, or touch, its leaves will droop or fold inward for a few minutes, almost as if it's playing dead. The leaves also close in the darkness and reopen when it's light. 🍀🌿

When the plant Mimosa pudica is touched or damaged by insects, it quickly closes its leaves as a defence. This happens because the plant sends fast electrical and calcium signals through its tissues, warning other parts of the plant that it is being eaten. These signals cause cells to lose water pressure, making the leaves fold inward within seconds. This rapid movement may help protect the plant by discouraging insects from continuing to feed, making it a simple but effective survival response. 📹 Masatsugu Toyota

I come through daily and pull off the leaves that are used up. When the plant is done with them, they come off with a little wiggle. Ya definitely do no wanna leave dead leaves in colas surrounded by living plant material, that’s an easy way to get rot.

Lugu Lake is now covered with its signature "floating water flowers." Delicate and pure-white, silk-like Ottelia acuminata typically blooms from June to September. Beyond their beauty, they are also a natural indicator of water quality. When the water becomes polluted or eutrophic, the plant will quickly decline or disappear.

Time under tension does not build muscle. You can move as slowly as you like. Control every millimetre. Turn a six-rep set into a 60-second ceremony. The muscle does not respond to the clock. It responds to mechanical tension applied close to failure by a load that is actually threatening it. No proximity to failure: no stimulus, regardless of how slowly you moved. And if you do push close to failure with a slow concentric, you have spent the whole set recruiting slow-twitch fibres, the ones built for endurance, while the fast-twitch fibres, the ones with genuine hypertrophic potential, wait at the side with nothing to do. They want heavy weight moved with maximum intent. They want the bar to slow because it is beating you, not because you chose to lose to it. Slow eccentrics compound this by generating damage without a proportional growth signal, because the muscle is at its strongest during the eccentric and nowhere near its limit. Feel free to move slowly. The fast-twitch fibres will remain exactly where they are.
