Pakistan’s Balochistan is witnessing a fresh wave of attacks on security forces, with the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claiming responsibility for two separate attacks around Ziarat Cross and Surab. The BLA says its Fateh Squad targeted a Pakistani Army convoy, destroying two of four vehicles and killing 18 personnel. In a separate attack in Surab’s Hajika area, the BLA claims its Special Tactical Operations Squad remotely detonated an explosives-laden vehicle, destroying a security forces vehicle and killing seven personnel. If the claims are accurate, the two attacks would have killed 25 Pakistani security personnel. However, these casualty figures remain BLA claims and have not been independently confirmed. After facing heavy losses, BLA has shifted strategy. Unable to launch major attacks, they are now destroying Balochistan’s local economy the same people they claim to fight for. Look at the pattern: attacks are concentrated on key trade routes like N-25 (RCD Highway) and N-40 (Quetta-Taftan) the Pak-Iran trade corridors. Meanwhile, business through northern Balochistan routes continues without the same disruption. This only hurts the poor Baloch belt. It’s time for the natives of Baloch areas, their Mutbars and Sardars, to resist BLA and stop facilitating them. Otherwise, the only losers will be local Baloch. One clear rule for security forces: Any company or individual consistently spared by BLA attacks is working with them ,and is an enemy of Balochistan and Pakistan.
