Sam George sat in front of the Vice President and said there are 20,000 custom laptops that would be given to people in 100 constituencies as part of the 1M Coders program by 31st March. Today is 2nd April and none, I repeat, it hasn’t been delivered. Yet the NDC went ahead and gave the same Sam George 3,000,000,000 GHC yesterday to boost AI in the country.

🚨confirmed: the laptops are Lenovo Core i5. that answers part of the specs question. what remains unclear: – RAM and storage – generation of the i5 unit cost has been reported at around ₵14,000. Core i5 is a mid-range processor. bulk procurement typically reduces cost. the full specs will determine whether this represents value for money. 🇬🇭

Hon. Sam Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, addressed Parliament yesterday, justifying government's plan to conduct a SIM re-registration exercise. According to him, the move aims to combat fraud by creating a centralized equipment identity register, that will allow the banning of mobile devices alongside SIM cards used in fraudulent activities.

Mrs. Olu Verheijen, Executive Secretary of the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI), has described the launch of the Power Force Programme as a major step in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's vision to close Nigeria's metering gap, create jobs for young Nigerians, and build a modern electricity sector driven by skilled local talent. What to know: - The Power Force Programme was launched to train 5,000 young Nigerians to support the nationwide rollout of smart electricity meters. - The initiative forms part of the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI) established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that Nigerians pay only for the electricity they consume. - The programme is expected to support the installation of 7 million electricity meters across the country. - Power Force is designed not just to train meter installers but to build long-term careers, develop technical skills, and strengthen Nigeria's electricity workforce. - Although only 5,000 training slots were available, the programme received nearly 220,000 applications from young Nigerians nationwide, demonstrating strong interest in technical and vocational employment opportunities. - Successful participants will have direct pathways to employment with electricity distribution companies and licensed meter providers. - The programme aims to create sustainable employment while supporting the expansion and modernisation of Nigeria's electricity distribution network. - The first phase of implementation begins in Abuja before expanding to all six geopolitical zones, ensuring nationwide participation.

Today was Day 1 of the rollout of courses under the #OMCP. I am excited about the number of young Ghanaians who logged in online and visited our learning centres in all 16 Regions today. There were challenges in some locations, but the team is working around the clock to address them as they arise, and I am hopeful that by the end of the week, we will be fully operational. This remains a huge investment in the people of our Country by John Dramani Mahama. I am humbled and privileged to play a part in this mega project. If you haven't signed on yet, get on board now. For God and Country. 🦁🇬🇭

A heartfelt tribute to #Savitribai Phule—one of India’s most pioneering educators—we have established the Savitribai Phule Centre of Learning. This centre aims to impart digital education to children affected by the 2020 Delhi riots, the young women at #Sabaat honing their stitching skills, and students from the nearby madrasa. Through this initiative, we hope to carry forward her legacy of empowerment, dignity, and inclusive learning.
