Communism was the intellectual class' bid to step into the shoes of Europe's aristocrats once it became clear in the mid-1800s that popular sovereignty was working in the United States. That's why it's no accident that Marx published the Communist Manifesto in 1848 when popular revolutions broke out all across Europe. At that point, it became apparent that rule by blood was finished in Europe. The intellectual class in Europe saw their chance and pushed Communism in an attempt to replace Europe's aristocratic elite with a class of intellectual elitists. Since 1848, that's what the fight between the left and the right has pretty much been all about. Will we be governed by ourselves thru representative gov't or by a totalitarian elite who view themselves as intellectually superior to everyone else.

The premise of communism is that it is possible for everyone to be equal - that if you are not wealthy it’s because someone is exploiting your labor for their profit. This is irresistible fairy tale stuff because human nature would like to blame anyone else besides themselves for their own misfortune. Let’s face it life sucks. No one wants to get out of bed in the morning to go to work for hours, being told what to do. Communists tells you it doesn’t have to be that way, overthrow the oppressors and you can own everything. That lie was told to farmers in China where for millenniums, the farm system has landowners who lease their land out to workers for a fee. In most villages and towns, there were multiple landowners, so they had to compete for the labourers to work their fields. If there is still competition. Priced too high, the labourers can simply pick a different land to lease. There is still resentment because no one wants to give up a portion of the crops (or receive am agreed portion of the crops depending on their contract). The communists show up and tell them they can keep everything. Of course a lot of labourers will want to keep it all. The landowners were largely killed or escaped, and now the labourers owned the land. When the revolution succeeded, the farmers were given the good news : “ Thanks for working the land. The people now own everything. Aren’t you happy?” What it means when the people owns everything is that no family owns any land. The land that they were promised in exchange for killing the landowners now belonged to the state. The state is the communist party who assigns farming collective administrators. And here’s the punchline. Instead of having to choose between different landowners, there is only a single land owner : The State who assigns the party cadres managing each local commune. The farmers get told how much crop they have to make. Many farmers realize quickly they get to keep a lot less of the harvest than when they leased the land from the previous land owners, but the party was very persuasive with guns and bullets. What followed was the greatest famine that China had ever seen. When it comes to killing their own people, no other dynasty in thousands of years of history in China is as efficient as Mao’s government. About 30M dead from starvation. By contrast, Holodomor killed less than 3M in Ukraine, and the Great potato famine of Ireland killed 1M.

People defending Marx just need to look into the man… he was a terrible son who wanted his parents to hurry up and die so he could inherit money, a deadbeat father…, a racist, a misanthrope, he leached off his friend Engels rather than support himself after dwindling his inheritance and the money from his wife’s family. He was an articulate LOSER… who should have been forgotten by history. And is worshipped by losers despite his appalling character.
