[ONE KILLED AND ANOTHER INJURED BY A MOB IN A STOCKTHEFT RELATED INCIDENT] Police at Verena are investigating a stock theft related incident whereby two male persons were reportedly cornered and assaulted by an unidentified group of people after being reportedly found with livestock believed to have been stolen. One of the alleged suspects died whilst the other one sustained some injuries. The incident occurred in Verena on Wednesday, 24 December 2024. According to a report, Police as well Medical Emergency Services were called to the scene, and it was during this period when one of the men was pronounced dead, while the other was taken to the hospital for treatment. He is currently hospitalized under Police guard. The incident is believed to be linked to stocktheft incident, where 26 cattle, six goats, and a donkey were reportedly stolen from a certain farm in Verena. The Police investigation indicates that a shepherd was attacked earlier that day then robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. Thereafter, the suspects are believed to have fled the scene in two bakkies with trailers when their vehicles got stuck in the mud, leading to their capture and attack by the mob. Two bakkies were also torched during the incident.

Man Arrested After Knife Incident, Bradford College A man has been arrested following an incident near Bradford College this morning. Reports were received from 9.21am of a man armed with what appeared to be a knife on Great Horton Road. He was detained by college security staff and arrested by attending officers. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting two members of the public and assaulting two emergency workers. He was also arrested for a racially-aggravated public order offence and causing damage to a police vehicle. The two injured members of the public have been taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A small gardening tool was seized by police at the scene. Detective Inspector Ailis Coates said: “We know that this incident will understandably cause some concern in the community. I would like to reassure people that the suspect was quickly detained by security staff and arrested by the police. “We understand that this incident has been witnessed by a large number of people and that some people may have filmed bits of it. We would ask them to please share this footage with the police as it could greatly assist us in our ongoing investigation. “We currently have a police scene in place on Great Horton Road and people can expect to see our neighbourhood policing colleagues in the area providing reassurance to college staff and students and the wider community.”

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of affray after this shocking incident in Southend last night involving large knives. Defectives are continuing to investigate the assault. The knife fight happened at around 12:15AM, with at least three men seen holding weapons. It took place on the corner of Southchurch Road and Warrior Square East, near to a number of late night takeaways, convenience stores and an adult entertainment venue A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "Our officers were on the scene within ten minutes. It was established a group of individuals had been involved in a fight, with a number of weapons seen. We’ve been made aware that Langton Hall in Chelmsford is currently being used for Friday prayers. (mosque) We’ve been keeping an eye on the situation and, so far, the main concern we’ve heard from local residents has been the volume of vehicles parking in the surrounding streets. There are also concerns as young children play nearby and the increase of traffic. Today, we were informed of an incident where a local resident reportedly asked for a vehicle to be moved because it was blocking access to her drive. It has been alleged that this led to an altercation, with claims that she was pushed and threatened. We understand part of the incident was filmed shortly afterwards. At this stage, these are allegations and we cannot verify exactly what happened. (mosque) We’ve been keeping an eye on the situation and, so far, the main concern we’ve heard from local residents has been the volume of vehicles parking in the surrounding streets. There are also concerns as young children play nearby and the increase of traffic. Today, we were informed of an incident where a local resident reportedly asked for a vehicle to be moved because it was blocking access to her drive. It has been alleged that this led to an altercation, with claims that she was pushed and threatened. We understand part of the incident was filmed shortly afterwards. At this stage, these are allegations and we cannot verify exactly what happened.
