(August 27, 2026) Sosúa, Dominican Republic - Attempted robbery leaves a man injured in a bank An alleged robbery attempt occurred on Wednesday morning in a consortium of banks and exchange house, located in the La Unión sector, in Sosúa, Puerto Plata, resulted in a man wounded by a bullet and mobilized agents of the National Police. According to journalist Fabián Darío, of the media outlet Detrás del Rumor, the alleged assailant was identified as Cristopher David Santana, a resident of the same sector where the event occurred. During the incident, a man known as "Bolívar" was shot in the right leg, a wound that, according to preliminary information, would have been caused by the alleged robber in the middle of the event. The statement also indicated that Santana would have been linked to the assault against a remittance company Vimenca that occurred in Sosúa in August 2024 and that he would later have been linked to another criminal act.
