This is heartbreaking — and completely preventable. A teacher breaking down because high school seniors still can’t read or write (yet get handed diplomas) is not a “crisis.” It’s the predictable result of a system that prioritizes credentials over competence. Meanwhile, here’s what a 13-year-old is capable of when the focus is on actual skill: I drafted this letter to President Trump urging him to award Thomas Sowell the Presidential Medal of Freedom. My daughter then carefully penned it by hand — clear, steady, and fully legible. The contrast is not subtle. Government schools are failing families on a massive scale. Thomas Sowell spent decades warning us about the incentives and ideologies driving this decline. He deserves the nation’s highest civilian honor for that clarity. If you believe excellence still matters, please sign and share the petition: We don’t need more tears. We need higher standards — and the courage to enforce them.

Our schools need to just go back to the basic's and knock out the electives until High School. No more of this indoctrination crap of ideology or whatever, we are losing generations of children that can't read, write or do basic math!

Educators ELECT these grifters to lead them. Now, who’s dumb?

I have a possible solution. The (federal) Department of Education (IF we are going to have it) should set a standard that a high school graduate pass a civil service exam, like the ASVAB, or POST. States and local school boards can set a higher standard.

Malcolm X stated the Civil Rights Movement was the worst thing to happen to the Black people, it gave them fatherless home, welfare, & communities ravished by drugs, low educational standards.

And they probably can't do math either. He isn;t the problem. The mal-education system is the problem. The system failed the kids for a decade before he ever got them as students. Sad...

Then why didn't you and your teacher's union buddies fail them so they'd stay in school and learn to read. FFs, man up and get with the program.

Isn't he wearing a gold Rolex? Seems pretty fancy for a teacher's salary. 🤷

This clip made me think of Lyndon Johnson. He and a couple of handfuls of racists in Government led us to this point. Thomas Sowell - my hero - exposes this very clearly. Check him out.

Keep using computers to teach young children instead of the teachers actually teaching the kids and this is the results. My local public school is forcing kids onto computers even if your family does NOT allow it. Forcing children to become ill educated doesn’t seem quite right.

My Aunt was a teacher @ Westminster. Orange Co., California. In the early 70's. Her biggest complaint was her seniors could not read above third grade level. She felt to many teachers preferred to pass than do their job.

Why the fuck don’t these idiots realize that no child left behind destroyed schooling in America, you cannot trust 2 working parents at home to teach their kids, if they’re even working that is. The kids have to be failed for failure, otherwise they move along and stay retarded.

While this teacher and many more like him are upset because their students can't read or write, they don't work to fix this issue. Instead, the educational machine spits out these uneducated young people into a world that will have no meaningful employment for them. Education has failed generations of children and helped to perpetuate the government benefits dependence in our society.

The primary culprit here are the parents. There is absolutely no excuse for not possessing the ability to read, especially w/all of the FREE aid, help, & instruction on the Internet.

Abolish and terminate the Department of Education. Then, abolish and terminate the "teacher's union". Make education a state issue. Hire only based on merit.

Democrats want to keep people hopeless and helpless. People who can't read, write and do basic math are easier to control because they depend on the government for everything. The Democrats want to make slaves of everyone. Time to wake up America. Democrats are evil.

The worst part is, inner-city schools get on average 3 times the money per student as white suburban schools, yet the kids still fail miserably. It's time to abolish the teachers unions that control this money, and start over.

Its not compassion without standards. Its just not compassion at all. Its apathy and selfishness. People care more about the positive neurochemical release they get from convincing themselves they're doing a good thing than they care about actually doing good.

Its called no parents, and what libtards want to do is throw money at the school system. in the end if no parenting takes place this cycle will never end. Stop having babies at a young age !
