I spent a whole day visiting the Seattle daycares featured in my National Review article with Abigail Anthony about inexplicable spending by WA State Department of Children, Youth & Families . Most did not answer when I knocked. If there were children inside, thick curtains blocked any natural sunlight for them. Neighbors were unaware of daycares a one-minute walk away. Confused residents said that they had no knowledge of a daycare at their address, to which Washington State paid nearly $500,000 last year. WA State Attorney General Nick Brown said that he would focus on prosecuting journalism like this instead of investigating welfare fraud. The State Auditor stated that DCYF records are so bad that millions of dollars over the past four years have been un-auditable. This violates the terms of their federal funding. This video is only half of the footage we captured. Stay tuned.

This is just one of the 1,000’s of fraudulent businesses operating in Minnesota.

Neighbors at the most recently public listed address (from Dept. of Revenue) say they’re haven’t seen kids. The person inside the apartment says there’s no daycare here. The DOR web page says the location is “closed” but no new address exists. The DCYF indicates that the daycare is in Kent following a slew of records changes for other Somali daycares. Jonathan Choe, Kristen Mag and I investigated. Al Nasiib has taken in a quarter million dollars since 2023, nearly $30,000 of that just in November of 2025. 11/25 is the most recently posted subsidy month on the state expenditure website.
