In large-scale clusters, there are two types of people: the FP4/BF16 GenAI zoomers and the traditional FP64 boomers. It's important that low-precision GenAI engineers learn from the FP64 boomers, who have extensive experience with large-scale supercomputing. Equally important is for FP64 engineers to learn from the GenAI zoomers about incorporating GenAI and lower precision into their legacy HPC workloads. One crucial note: FP64 boomers don't use Discord or Slack, the only way to communicate with them is through Microsoft Teams or WebEx.
