Comptroller Brad Lander is released from ICE custody. Gov. Kathy Hochul is with him and says there are no charges against him.

Brad Lander says he is fine – “I lost a button” – but the immigrant he was trying to protect from ICE agents is in custody and is not fine

“We don’t know where Edgardo is now,” Lander says of the man he was trying to help. “No one was able to be in touch with him.”

“Seriously?” Lander asks, when informed that DHS initially said that he assaulted an officer.

“I did not come today expecting to get arrested,” Lander says. “I really think I failed today because my goal was to get Edgardo out of the building and back to his family.”

There SHOULD be charges - against the ICE agents who refused to identify and the agency itself!
