Concrete streets Asphalt streets LA has both. And neither are getting fixed faster than they're breaking. It's time for LA to take better care of our largest public asset: our streets.

The problems is you’re calling out a problem without providing a solution. We can’t debt fund that much repair. It has to be funded by deep budget cuts. The only viable solution to fix this problem is to end the homeless industrial complex subsidies & eliminate all NGO grants.

Asphalt sounds like a planned obsolescence scheme.

$1 mil total budget for concrete street repair. Also: concrete much better than asphalt for global warming issues. Make it make sense.

Dallas did the same. Now we literally asphalt over the concrete. All these big cities are run by the same morons. All democrats and liberals and all crooked.

They can’t even keep reservoirs filled. All those homeless people need to be housed. There’s not enough left for infrastructure.

Concrete is garbage, it ends up cracking and it isn’t easy to repair. Concrete freeways turn washboarded and need to ground smooth every 10 years which never happens. Fuck concrete for roads.

Concrete is colder and will save energy. The heat output of asphalt will offset the savings by a lot. It’s the main reason it gets so hot in the city these days. Think of asphalt as a heater in the full sun it will output 1000 watt of heat per square meter.

Don't forget the alleys! Another 1000 miles of failed alleys (not included in current PCI) with literally not one penny funded in the Mayor Bass' Budget.

Look the reality is the streets were never going to be maintained, the entire construct is completely unsustainable, there are no maintenance budgets that can ever match the construction budgets, there never will be

You're telling me Angelinos pay 73 cents to CA for every gallon of gas they buy on top of sales tax and property tax but the city can't find the money to cover the basics? Our Government is completely broken, out of control, and as corrupt as any African Country.

LA, along with California in general, won’t keep up car infrastructure intentionally. We have high gas taxes, a new law outlawing the sale of gas cars, a new law outlawing most tires, ‘lane diets’, impossible to navigate parking restrictions, speed cameras, unfilled pot holes, etc, etc. it’s all intentional. They want you to stay in a small area and use public transport instead of personal cars

Save the concrete. Asphalt is cheap quality and a cause of the urban heat island effect.

Streets get overhauled every decade across sectors because the city's massive and maintenance happens sequentially. You'd know that if you'd spent 5 minutes at a council instead of posting online. Stop pretending you're identifying a problem, just mad your street isn't first.
