Several government efforts were made in India before 2014 to tackle the menace of open defecation. But with little success, as prevalence remained highest at 40% (against global avg of 12%) in 2014. #SwachhBharatMission became a clarion call for public hygiene in India with a singular focus of building toilets for everyone. The impacts have been remarkable- for public health, hygiene and safety of women & girls across the nation. Commercial flights are equipped for ages with a system called TCAS -- Traffic collision Avoidance System. It tells the pilots in the cockpit how to avoid other airplanes nearby. It is a system that came about because of mid-air collisions with commercial airliners and small general aviation aircraft, commercial airliners and helicopters. It tells the pilots, there's traffic ahead of you -- climb, climb, now descend, descend now. We are all very concerned and worried that such an accident has taken place. Our condolences to the victims and their families. I hope for the speedy recovery if there are any survivors...This accident - how and why it took place, is a very surprising thing because 787 Dreamliner is a very technically advanced aircraft. There are thousands of Dreamliners flying all over the world by many airlines. There is no reason to doubt about the aircraft itself. If the accident has taken place, only the black-box will reveal what is the real reason, why things went wrong. The Captain did give a 'Mayday' call but we must also remember that the aircraft flew from Delhi to Ahmedabad and obviously there was no snag, otherwise the Captain would not have decided to fly from Ahmedabad to London which is a very long flight and there is no reason to even consider because the Pilot would have done pre-flight checks. On every flight, there is a pre-flight check and between the Captain and Second-in-command do all the checks to ascertain whether the plane is fly-worthy. I appreciate the bipartisan support from the Legislature in two important areas in particular. On affordable housing — this is the issue I heard about the most in my campaign in all 39 counties. Our bipartisan capital budget makes the largest investment in state history in the Housing Trust Fund, which provides the money needed to build homes for those most in need. Both parties have leaned into adopting a whole series of legislation to address the affordable housing crisis. On public safety — Washington ranks last in law enforcement personnel per capita. Getting $100 million grants in the hands of local law enforcement agencies to help them hire well-trained officers was a key piece of my campaign for governor. The final bill represents an important step forward in our work to improve public safety for all Washingtonians.

This is refreshing - a politician at a photo opp baulking at wearing a high VIZ just to ride a train. WP challenged the CEO of Auckland City Rail link to explain why he had to wear a safety vest to take a ride in the train - to which he could not get an explanation. I believe safety is important, but we must distinguish between two very different narratives: The "Sci-Fi" Narrative: Stories about AI controlling the world, having "feelings," or possessing secret intelligence designed to fool us. Too often, the research in this narrative is used for PR or as an excuse to stifle open-source research. The Engineering Reality: How do we build systems that are robust and hard to break? Sequoia founder Don Valentine: “The art of storytelling is incredibly important” “The art of storytelling is incredibly important. And many—maybe even most of the entrepreneurs who come to talk to us can’t tell the story. Learning to tell a story is incredibly important because that’s how the money works. The money flows as a function of the stories.” The founder of Sequoia founder explains that the story is how you explain what you want to do, how long it’s going to take, who the competition is, and how much money you need. a16z cofounder Ben Horowitz shared a similar view in a 2014 Forbes interview: “Storytelling is the most underrated skill… Companies that don’t have a clearly articulated story don’t have a clear and well thought-out strategy. The company story is the company strategy.” He continues: “The story must explain at a fundamental level why you exist. Why does the world need your company? Why do we need to be doing what we’re doing and why is it important?… You can have a great product, but a compelling story puts the company into motion. If you don’t have a great story it’s hard to get people motivated to join you, to work on the product, and to get people to invest in the product.” This is the job of the founder and CEO: “The CEO must be the keeper of the story. The CEO is responsible for getting the story right, that it’s up to date, compelling, and can move the hearts of men and women. That’s the fundamental responsibility of the chief executive… The mistake people make is thinking the story is just about marketing. No, the story is the strategy. Mick is a leftie lawyer who has done a lot of work with the Trade Unions and was also the attorney general who oversaw our wrongful arrest in Cwmbran. This is why our “Change My Mind” is so important. Please help us get all we need here. Labour & Plaid have to go! May elections are vital for the safety and the future of our country!
