Conflict is the new normal. The West needs to realize that. My take:

This period of growing regional conflicts may preface an upcoming global conflict. WW2 didn’t start with Hitler’s invasion of Poland, but Japan’s earlier invasion of China. Then Italy’s invasion of Ethiopia. Those seemed separate conflicts but eventually merged into a world war

“Conflict is the new normal. The West needs to realize that.” Well of course. When the country that is supposed to project strength and security around the globe has two mass shootings per day and the worst crime rate among peer nations….do you really believe that it has the capacity to keep the rest of the world safe? Think about that for just a moment. 🤔

Conflict is the manufactured normal. There is nothing more profitable than war.

Zakaria mouths standard western talking points like “no change of borders by force”… ignores West’s undermining of Russia’s security by expanding NATO’s borders eastwards since collapse of USSR. Russian reaction is then deemed as “aggression” & “illegal”.

The policy of maximum confrontation with everyone at once has failed. It cannot be fixed by simply spending more money on wars
