@rodericogorman Genuine question for everyone. Do you think going to the garden of rememberence for a few speeches and a bit of a laugh is going to in any way stop the likes Dave Mooney and the rest of them from opening IPAS centres?

About a year and a half ago, I stood at this exact location, the Sleep Inn in Sheepshead Bay, demanding answers from the city when it was being used as a migrant shelter. Fast forward to today: the site is now being used as a homeless shelter, and once again, there has been zero transparency. No notice to my office. No outreach to the community. No answers. That’s why I came back. And that’s why I’ve formally sent a letter to DHS demanding full transparency. We are asking simple, reasonable questions: What is this site being used for? What is the long-term plan? How many people are being housed here? Why has the community been kept in the dark, again? And how many sites like this is the city hiding from us in Southern Brooklyn? This is a residential neighborhood. People deserve to know what’s happening where they live. I will keep pushing until we get answers.
