An incredibly similar interaction can occur with encore and instruct targeting the same Pokemon.

The move sucker punch only checks whether the target CLICKS a damaging move, what the target actually happen does NOT matter. So if the target does nothing due to truant or can’t move because of para or asleep, sucker punch still works.

This also happens when you instruct an attack but chose a non damaging move
