Let’s be clear: Calling us essential does not make us immune to hazardous conditions. The MTA is now canceling AVAs, OTOs, and vacation requests—and trying to blur the lines by implying that if you don’t come in, you don’t get paid. That claim does NOT apply to sick days. Sick rules are contractual. Management cannot unilaterally change them—not during a snowstorm, not during an emergency, not ever.
