Election years get shorter on purpose. Democrats did it in 2008, 2010, and 2022. Republicans are doing it now. Members go home to campaign. That is the real reason. Using the calendar to dodge ugly votes is a fair knock on Johnson. Pretending Democrats ran Congress like a factory floor is not. Congress should stay and work. Stop pretending only the other party takes the summer and fall off.
