The problem with our society is that it judges you purely from the results you produce, which pushes you towards inaction because not doing anything keeps you safe from criticism and failure. So you stay stuck, not because you don't want to move forward, but because society has made it safer to do nothing than to try and potentially fall short.

Thank you for sharing, I'm guilty of this at times because of over thinking. I've managed to surround myself with a mixed bag of people, those who just do and this has helped me not to overthink certain things because it can be a form of procrastination.

True. But why does this happen? Is it by choice or condition of birth wiring? Respectfully, a few related thoughts on choice, work and happiness. 45 second read will alter one’s perception to feel better. Birth wiring will cause smart or high intelligence to be productive or not. Choice can be misunderstood, and ultimately a product of how the brain is wired determines how it develops and responds to its environment. There isn’t two brains or a brain within brain where one brain to the other what to do. The brain chooses, not the misunderstood consciousness of a “me” that’s taking miraculous adventures. The feeling of driving the brain is an avatar experience that cannot be explained only experienced. People including life in general are broken by evolutionary design. Once understood, broken people will not feel like an outcast or “less than” as many do. But also, leaders and masters of climbing the economic ladder will no longer be envied, bc ultimately, there is no work that is greener on the others side. Happiness is the positive attitude “in work”rather than the kind “of work” one does. Productive work and service may be the best effective therapy for mental health and well being, Work for the sake of appearance, cultural pressure or obedience can have the reverse effect. Hopefully these thoughts will help others to stop feeling guilty, bc people are not responsible, only accountable. Predators capitalize on the feelings of guilt causing dependency in others rather than independence. Guilt is suppose to be a motivator for accountability, learning and moving forward rather than being emotionally stuck on feeling responsible. As a result, depressed people live their lives focus on feeling responsible rather “feeling whole” (not responsible) the motivation which allows accountability to thrive. If your culture focuses on being responsible, regardless of benefits, many will suffer from self esteem and the inability to ever feel whole in the presently, Guilt Work becomes a means to an end (living in the future) rather than work in itself is life’s purpose and meaning (living in the present). Learn to feel whole by questioning those that said you are broken and need fixing . It’s called being born again or rebirth. Seeing life and self with a new perspective.

the “smart people stay broke” thing is real. high iq drives analysis-paralysis, not action. behavioral studies back it up: overthinking means risk avoidance, while action bias (even with mistakes) leads to more learning and higher chance of success.

The “smart” people are the ones who take action. The lazy and brainwashed people are the ones who think they are above others for no good reason.

No. Fooling yourself in not smart. Not at all. Misleading yourself is not "smart", this is when the person becomes their worst enemy. You need to differentiate between "smart" according to what or whom? Educational degree? - that's the worst way to guage smartness.
