Are you willing to accept diversity in exchange for competence? Are you sure? How would you know? What are your metrics? What are your incentives? Are you willing to discriminate against the demographic majority in order to achieve it? There's value in diversity of opinion and thought and experience. But racial discrimination is wrong no matter how good your intentions are.

DEI has gone overboard, especially in Canada. At lunch with a Chinese-Canadian client who works for the Ontario gov't, she pointed out that she's DISGUSTED with DEI. At a meeting, a man said he was "proud" he hired the far less qualified black man over the white guy. Ya know. DEI. She, herself, said she's upset because she worked for her place within the organization long ago and nobody said, "Oh goody! You get to have a senior role because you're NOT white." I'm an old school feminist - all we wanted was to have ROADBLOCKS removed that prevented us from accessing opportunities, not to kick men in the face and shove them aside, especially if they're white, and yet that is what happened. The emails I received when working with her at the government cheering DEI were DISGUSTING. No white males hired in senior roles and LOADS of blame on "colonialism" (i.e., bad, bad white people) and "slavery" (without acknowledging that slavery existed within the native community long before the white man showed up), etc. It's out of control and I, for one, soundly reject DEI. I want to get back to hiring based on merit, and until we do, I won't trust the skills of people newly hired through the DEI process.

No. DEI is a plan to give societal priority to people less qualified, less educated and less fit for some jobs, because of their gender, their skin color, their religion, or a disability. Merit is replaced by wokeness, a very dangerous process.

Well DEI is racism. When you hire based on race… it’s racism. Simple really.
DEI is the very definition of racism because hiring is explicitly based on race, gender or another form of perceived victimhood. It is a Marxist ideology that is decaying Western Institutions by preventing hiring based on merit.
Would be great if DEI meant diversity of thought, equality of opportunity and inclusion of all based on their merits.
