We all see it – the war in Iran remains unresolved. And it could cause instability for a long time. And it may raise the cost of living in all our countries this year. And this could lead to major political shifts. So first of all, our energy and security cooperation needs to be real cooperation. And we need to help each other prepare for winter and deal with energy challenges. And we should also push for a long-term solution for the Strait of Hormuz and for the people of Iran. Tomorrow is an important day. We are anticipating a historic conclusion from the European Union—a report on Ukraine's implementation of the European Commission's recommendations. And we are already planning our next steps following this report. Our legislative efforts and the strengthening of state institutions. Ukraine has already come a long way toward stronger ties with the European Union. We are fully aware that EU membership relies on a political decision shared by all EU members that want to see a new state join, but it also relies on the candidate state itself and its work to approximate and adapt EU standards and community norms. Ukraine will join the EU. And we will achieve this, in particular, as a result of our state's internal transformation that is completely consistent with the interests of our people. The EU represents economic security and social stability for Ukraine, and Ukraine represents the strengthening of the entire EU community. And it is critical that the Ukrainian parliament continues to support the legislative efforts required for our European integration.

It is now quite clear, however, that Europe’s space and defence autonomy has become one of our Continent’s foremost priorities. Andrius Kubilius and I have a plan for a coordinated effort to increase European space resilience from space. Our vision is long-term, structured, bold and an important step in permanently integrating security in our collective space efforts. The European Parliament and the European Commission, in collaboration with European Space Agency, organised the ‘General Assembly Defence, Space and Cybersecurity’ to promote dialogue between European and national decision-makers, and industry representatives in the context of the unprecedented geopolitical challenges that the European Union is facing. For us, it has always been very important what societies think about what is happening, and whether ordinary people feel, in a broad sense, what we are fighting for; whether they feel what we are fighting for here, in Ukraine, and what would threaten others if Ukraine had not held out. This sense of a shared threat and a common task – to protect life and our European choice, our European way of life – this sense has united country leaders, many other political leaders in partner countries, civic leaders, the business community, media professionals, and cultural figures. And most importantly, the thoughts of truly millions of people in different countries, in different parts of the world, have been and remain with us – above all in Europe, because this is Russia’s war in Europe, against Ukraine and against Europe.
