The man the myth the legend

Wally Wallington is a retired construction worker who claims he can build a pyramid with just 520 people and primitive tools in 25 years. He has demonstrated his techniques on various TV shows and YouTube videos, where he shows how he can move and lift massive stones using levers, counterweights, and pivots. He has also built a concrete replica of Stonehenge in his backyard using the same methods. But did you know that Wallington also has a theory about how the ancient Egyptians aligned the pyramids with the stars? Wallington believes that the Egyptians used a simple device called a gnomon to measure the position of the sun and the stars. A gnomon is a vertical stick or pole that casts a shadow on the ground. By observing the length and direction of the shadow, one can determine the time of day, the seasons, and the cardinal directions. Wallington claims that he can align his Stonehenge replica with any star or constellation using a gnomon and some ropes. He says that the Egyptians could have done the same with the pyramids, by placing a gnomon at the center of the base and marking the points where the shadow touched the edges. Then, they could have used ropes to draw lines from these points to the opposite corners, forming a square. By rotating this square slightly, they could have aligned it with any star or constellation they wanted.

Wally Wellington has constructed a concrete Stonehenge-like structure using only materials and techniques that do not rely on any modern machine-powered technology. He has demonstrated this technique on the Canadian science television program Daily Planet and also for the Discovery Channel.

Hey, this guy has a theory. He demonstrates the feasibility of it. Other guys have other theories. That’s all I’m saying.

It's a common misconception that the pyramids were built by slaves. Evidence shows that the laborers were likely skilled workers who lived in nearby villages and were well-fed and cared for. The ancient Egyptians used an ingenious system of logistics and organization. Workers were divided into teams with specific roles, and they used a corvée system where laborers worked in rotations. The massive stones were transported along the Nile on boats. It's believed that workers used a system of sledges to move the stones over land and that wetting the sand in front of the sledges reduced friction and made it easier to move the heavy blocks. Several theories about how the blocks were lifted into place have been proposed, including straight ramps, zigzagging ramps, and circular ramps. The exact method remains a topic of debate among scholars.

Now do it with a stone weighing 2.5t and it's 10km away from the construction site. Then do it 2.3M times. Wally sucks.
