Deadly shootout in Northern California after officers apparently failed to properly search a suspect before placing him in the front seat of his cruiser. Mt. Shasta Police Department and Weed Police Department released body cam footage showing the incident that happened on March 21, 2026, during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 near the north Weed off-ramp. An officer pulled over a car traveling northbound at the north Weed off-ramp for multiple violations, including excessive window tint and an unsafe lane change. The officer called for help with a K-9 drug sniff, and a Mt. Shasta police officer responded to assist. During the search, the Weed officer found a large amount of suspected methamphetamine hidden in a stereo speaker box. As the officer approached the man, who was sitting in front of the patrol car, the man pulled out a gun from his waist and pointed it at the officer. The officer then shot the man. Medical help was provided at the scene, and the man was taken to Dignity Mt. Shasta for treatment, where he later died from his injuries. One officer suffered minor injuries from a fall during the incident

A Chief Military Officer was reportedly shot dead by a Chief/land-guard identified as Benlord Ababio. According to the audio of the eyewitness, the issue was partially solved at the police station and upon the military officer leaving the police station he was dared by Lord to move his car. This woman was going home when she saw a car traveling slowly in the lane in front of her. She decides to pass it and be on her way. When she was close to her home she suddenly became aware that the man she passed was following her. She tried to turn around in a parking lot to head to the police station by her house but due to construction she had to pull into a parking space to turn around. The man tried to block her in, gets out of his car and flashes his drivers license at her as if he was law enforcement. She was able to back out to the left and escape as he punches her window. This man should be charged for what he did but was he also attempting to impersonate an officer by flashing his badge?

The woman later went to the police station to file a complaint; however, no FIR was registered based on her complaint. It was created in his memory and erected at the forecourt of the Kotoka International Airport terminal building, the exact spot where his body was found after an abortive coup known as ‘Operation Guitar Boy’ in 1967.
