Key is to hold the breath. I started doing this with forward bends to be my own chiropractor. First time it popped I passed out. Three years later and I can pop up and down anywhere in the spine. I started doing backends now this way but have a ways to open still.

Assuming this is like a hack version of willing the kundalini energy upwards after prana yana/retention “Mula Bandha + Uddiyana Bandha: Contract pelvic floor, pull stomach inward/up after exhale, and visualize energy rising through the spine.”
