Cooper: Michael Whatley claims to be tough on crime, and in fact, he is attacking me on that issue, when in fact, I’m the only one in this race who’s actually prosecuted violent criminals and worked to keep them behind bars. When Michael Whatley was chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, he appointed a guy, who was convicted of abusing children and was on the sex offender registry. So that’s the kind of thing that we’re dealing with here: people who pretend to be tough on crime, yet when it comes to politics, they want to protect people who are child predators.
