No one on this app writes about or praises James Mangold more than the man writing this Tweet. All that said, my guy Mangold is rumored to be involved in an upcoming project that would spin his 1997 film Cop Land (which I love) into a TV series. If Mangold’s involved, I’m there.

And while I’m at it, Sylvester Stallone should’ve received a Best Supporting Oscar nomination for Cop Land. You guys all know how much I love James Mangold & this is one of his best films, in part because of Stallone. Don’t tell me Sly doesn’t have a great filmography when he’s got films like Cop Land in his back pocket.

Cop Land (1997) is one of those films that slipped under the radar. A stacked cast, a sharp script, and Sylvester Stallone delivering one of the best performances of his career.

Sylvester Stallone worked for pennies on Cop Land (1997). Desperate to be taken seriously as a dramatic actor again, he took the SAG minimum salary of just 60,000 dollars, a massive drop from his usual 20 million dollar action paycheck.

Sylvester Stallone in Cop Land did what half these "prestige" actors can't: played a deaf, broken hero with zero vanity and stole the movie from De Niro & Keitel. This is peak 90s crime cinema. 🎬📺 Cop Land❤️🔥
