Context/Details: 🚨 In 2006, Ryan Waller, then 18 years old, became the center of a harrowing and tragic incident. Waller and his girlfriend, Heather Quan, were living together in an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona. During the Christmas season, the couple became victims of a violent home invasion. The perpetrators were Ritchie Carver, a former roommate and friend of Waller, and Larry Carver, Ritchie's father. On the day of the incident, Ritchie and Larry Carver arrived at Waller's apartment. When Ryan Waller answered the door, he was met with immediate violence. Ritchie Carver shot Waller twice in the head. After shooting Waller, Ritchie proceeded to another room where he shot and killed Heather Quan. Despite his critical injuries, Waller survived the initial attack. Concerned about their son's absence at Christmas dinner, Waller's parents visited the apartment. Receiving no response, they eventually contacted the police. Upon arrival, the police discovered Heather Quan's body and a severely injured Waller, who was surprisingly still alive. In a state of confusion and severe injury, Waller was unable to clearly recall the events. However, he managed to identify Ritchie and Larry Carver as the assailants. Despite visible wounds and a swollen eye, the police did not immediately realize Waller had been shot. Instead, they suspected him of being involved in the murder of his girlfriend. Waller was taken into custody and interrogated for six hours without receiving the medical attention he desperately needed. It was only after this prolonged interrogation that Waller was finally taken to the hospital. By then, his condition had worsened significantly. He had developed a severe infection, which doctors stated could have been avoided with timely medical care. Waller spent 35 days in the hospital, enduring the loss of part of his brain, and his left eye, and suffering from seizures that eventually led to his death in 2007. The real perpetrators, Ritchie and Larry Carver were eventually brought to justice. Ritchie Carver, identified as the primary assailant, was apprehended almost a week after Ryan Waller was discharged from the hospital. His conviction came first, in 2008, five years before his father's trial. Ritchie was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, a testament to the gravity of his crimes. Larry Carver, Ritchie's father and accomplice in the heinous act, was found guilty in 2013, by a Maricopa County Jury. After a lengthy legal process, Larry was sentenced to life imprisonment. The motive behind Ritchie Carver's violent actions remained shrouded in ambiguity. Various theories were proposed, ranging from personal disputes to potential advances towards Heather Quan, or even a motive as simple as theft. However, a definitive motive was never conclusively established The case also led to legal action against the Phoenix Police Department. The officer who interrogated Waller faced charges related to evidence tampering and fabricating stories connected to the case. I provide context and detailed explanations under similar posts. Gunshot to the head and he's getting interrogated. Protect and serve? Who? The investigators should go to jail.
