Driver is an idiot, not a hero. He admitted to speeding, saying he was just following another car. Hint: if a group of 5 cars are speeding together, nothing says cop has to pull over front car. Speeding when you are following a car is no excuse. Belligerent drivers like this accomplish nothing. Depending on the officer, such an attitude can lead to a harsher fine or even imprisonment (in AZ, it is a criminal misdemeanor to drive 20 mph over speed limit) for the traffic fine alone. Last time I was stopped for going 65 in a 35 zone on a country road. I was polite & contrite, provided my docs when asked, kept hands at 11 & 1 on wheel. Cop didn’t write me up for improper seatbelt setup (medical condition makes shoulder harness painful but I don’t have Dr note), no current insurance card, video podcast on phone, & only cited me for going 45. He could have impounded my car & taken me to jail. I avoided all that by being civil & polite. X is filled with videos with angry, combative drivers or passengers who turn a traffic school ticket (maybe $50-75) into an arrest for obstruction, battery of a police officer, resisting arrest, etc. Got anything illegal in car? Arguing with officer makes it much more likely they will have probable cause to search. If there are problems with a stop, don’t fight it on the street, fight it in court. You will not win a street fight with a cop. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re a sovereign citizen, or a lawyer who thinks they know the law better than the officer. Yes, there are some videos where this appears to be the case, but 999 times out of 1000 you will lose. Who do you think will listen to your claim that you made that stop or were only going the speed limit - the cop who stopped you or a judge? People who comply with the demands of officers & are polite & mindful of not taking actions the officer may consider threatening rarely get anything more than a ticket or even a warning. Wise or tough guys who refuse to comply open up a whole world of hurt where there is no upside. If the cop is on the wrong, let the dash cam & body cam tell the story in court. Years ago Chris Rock did a video with advice for dealing with cops. It remains relevant.

We are celebrating stupidity here. The driver is an ass. He's lucky to be alive after pulling his wallet immediately following his verbal threats to resist. Nearly a suicide by cop move.

Folks forget they are not in charge when stopped. They are under legal detention and must obey lawful orders, such as surrendering documents without delay. Remember, you have the right to be INFORMED ONLY why you were detained. You DO NOT have the right to discuss or debate it. Don't do this to yourself. This officer may have only wanted to give a warning but this idiot just cost himself a citation and points - guaranteed.

Him threatening the cop then reaching could have gotten him shot real quick!!! He’s a mouthy piece of crap! These folks have gotten real complacent when being pulled over, and it doesn’t make any sense!!! Just comply and be respectful, take your ticket if you’re getting one, fight it in court, and move on!!! Geez….🙄

I’m sorry that’s on the driver… When he said, you want to get violent with me I will defend myself. He kind of reached the same way he reached when he went for his wallet. What do you think the police officer would think he was reaching for after saying that. Come on!
