This is why in the olden days we cold approached in bars/clubs/parties first, then learned day game. These neo-direct openers (“Excuse me, you are really beautiful, what’s your name?”) are horrid, but they can actually work okay in bars/clubs/parties. That’s because girls in bars/clubs/parties are in ‘social mode’ and will talk even if the opener sucks. That allows you to get farther along, develop some conversational acumen, And then you start to realize you need to open better than what this guy’s doing. Do too many young people lack an appetite/resilience for working? Why are so many 16 to 24-year-olds claiming they're too ill to work? Obviously the welfare system is full of perverse incentives - you can be better off on benefits than with a job. But it seems there are deeper problems eating away at generational resilience - eg, the medicalisation of everyday problems, or the fact that many young people have internalised the Lockdown lesson that health trumps jobs, school, economy etc...
