Cornyn now says he has "no alternative but to take his word." Except the actual legal text he's trusting only rescinds the May 18 order, not the underlying settlement that created the fund. Trump's contractual right to revive it is untouched, per legal analysis published before this vote. Durbin, in the same hearing, accused Blanche of lying under oath about a prior private admission. "Naive" is generous. This is a senator choosing to be satisfied with a document he either didn't read carefully or didn't want to.
