A public prosecutor attached to the City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru was caught red-handed by the Karnataka Lokayukta Police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a complainant on Monday. The accused,has been identified as, Savitha Naveen Patil, 55, serving as Public Prosecutor at CCH-54, Bengaluru, was allegedly demanding a bribe to submit objections in Case registered at the Chennamanakere Achukattu Police Station. The complainant, Manjunath, 40, a resident of Banashankari, approached the Lokayukta alleging that the prosecutor had demanded Rs. 5,000 to carry out the official work. Based on the complaint, Lokayukta Police registered Case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. During the trap operation, the accused was allegedly caught while accepting the Rs. 5,000 bribe amount and was secured by the Lokayukta team and arrested for further investigation.

It simplifies languages, reduces forms and is designed so that the average taxpayer can understand their obligations and without professional help, they can do it themselves. The monetary threshold for filing appeals has also seen some enhancement. The monetary limit for filing appeal to the ITAT, High Court, and the Supreme Court have all been increased. Income tax Appellate Tribunal earlier had monetary limit of Rs. 50 lakh. The present monetary limit is Rs. 60 lakh. For High Court earlier, it was Rs. 1 crore and it is Rs. 2 crore. Supreme Court earlier had Rs. 2 crore and now it's Rs. 5 crore. There's also an increase in the limit of disputed demand of cases that can be disposed of by the JCIT appeals. It has been increased from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs. - Smt Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha

The raid, conducted as part of a case registered against Narendar for Disproportionate Assets, revealed assets far exceeding his known sources of income. Additionally, 51 tolas of gold worth Rs. 6 lakh and 17 immovable properties valued at Rs. 1.98 crore were seized. The total value of the assets seized so far amounts to approximately Rs. 6.07 crore. The case against Narendar falls under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, specifically Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2), which deal with the acquisition of assets disproportionate to known sources of income through corrupt practices. Following the raid, Narendar was arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad. Chalamalla Hari Prasad Reddy, Sub Inspector at Thimmajipet Police Station in Nagarkurnool district, Telangana was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking Rs 20,000 bribe for releasing a vehicle. Hari Prasad demanded Rs 30,000 from the complainant to release a vehicle that was seized by the police. He was trapped and caught today. But what is absolutely CRAZY is how there was a celebration following his arrest in the main junction, Ambedkar Chowrasta of Nagarkurnool. Crackers were burst and people were literally elated. Many were seen sloganeering against Hari Prasad Reddy. Apparently, he was highly corrupt and would mercilessly trash anyone who wouldn’t pay him up. He would actively involve in civil matters and do “settlements”. There are allegations that Hari Prasad collected money from various villages in the guise of putting up CCTV cameras. Hari Prasad Reddy’s bribery case is currently under investigation and hope he pays for all his crimes!

Hari Prasad demanded Rs 30,000 from the complainant to release a vehicle that was seized by the police. He was trapped and caught today.
