to me it almost feels like people struggle with the show eliciting the negative responses it intends to. I think there's a lot of very important criticism for this season, but there are aspects where ppl say 'im so angry x character did this!' and like.. yeah tahts the point

right, the art upsetting you on its own doesn't make it morally bad. There are cases that the upset comes from it being hurtful in a number of ways and that can be a conversation, but recognizing that a thing upsets you on its own isn't really critique

I started noticing this like 10 years ago and people killed me for it People can’t say they don’t like X movie or Y album just because they don’t like it, they have to frame it as moral/political issue This is one of the biggest downfalls of “social justice” culture

Not specifically a gen z issue, but this is a big problem with a lot of online criticism. It comes from the same mindset that creates those “objectivity in art” people. It’s the desperate need to be validated, to turn your feelings into facts that can’t be challenged.

i think the broader trend is moralising in general. we assign morality to thinks we like or dislike, but we also like or dislike things based on morality. for example we often confuse the morality of a character with the intentions of the author.

Is our feeds. Mine last week showed non stop the Ceuta invasión, I ask someone about it and he had no Idea. Gen Z only experience with culture is a feed catered to them, so when they hear a different point of view they see it as a transgression of reality.
