🚨Dumping a giant ice cube into the ocean would release a lot of freshwater. This could mess with salinity and potentially impact thermohaline circulation - the global “conveyor belt” of ocean currents. That’s not necessarily a good thing and could trigger climate shifts.

the water wouldnt rise when the ice melt, it would immediatly happen as soon as the ice begins floating on the ocean, ice disperses as much water as it would be added once it melt

To give it a little perspective: to lower the temperature of just the top meter of ocean water across 1 square kilometer by 1°C, you’d need over 40 million tons of ice.

The act of dropping a 23-mile cube into the ocean would cause flooding. Its melting later would not cause any greater sea level rise because ice displaces the same amount of water as it does when it melts.
