This is not a recession-based situation. The economy is on fire as measured by the earnings of the S&P. No one saw this coming but Trump is the first AI president, he's getting the benefit of margin enhancement and productivity enhancement across all 11 sectors as all of these companies in the S&P 500 adopt AI. You would think at this point with two wars, tariffs in the US, instability of inflation, and bond prices going up, that the market would sell off, but it's not because it sees around the corner that the American economy is on fire because of the benefit of AI.

John: AI is actually doing very little for the economy right now. It's doing a lot for the markets, but in terms of the actual economic impact of AI, it's very low. If you add up the actual revenues from the AI labs, you're talking about $40 billion. Maybe there's like a 5x multiple on that, and so you're generating $200 billion of GDP on top of those tokens. But that's just not that much in the grand scheme of America's actual GDP. There's this disconnect between the market, which is pricing future GDP, future cash flows, future value creation. Then you have what is actually driving GDP, and then you have the actual workforce and what Americans do. What's actually holding up the American economy? It's healthcare jobs. The number of people that are software developers is less than 1% of America. The number of people that work at tech companies broadly is less than 10%.

🚨 THIS IS VERY, VERY BAD The S&P 500 is sitting near all-time highs. But nobody is paying attention to what’s actually happening. Markets are pricing in a 60% chance of a Fed rate hike this month. Last time this happened: S&P 500: $4,800 → $3,500 -25% wiped out. But this time there’s another problem: The AI bubble. The same AI stocks holding the S&P 500 up are exactly what higher rates hit the hardest. Higher rates mean: → Stronger dollar → Higher bond yields → Lower stock valuations → Less liquidity for risk assets And Bitcoin is exposed to the same liquidity shock. Stronger dollar + less liquidity + lower risk appetite = pressure on BTC. That lines up perfectly with the final Bitcoin market-cycle low I’m expecting this autumn. Stocks dump. Bitcoin follows. And this time, the S&P 500 drop could be much bigger than 25%. Reminder: I’ve called every major market top and bottom for the last 15 years, including the tops in Gold and Silver, the collapse in Oil, the SpaceX drop, and Bitcoin’s crash.
