Well what that leaves out is that it will be put on trains and it will not be faster. It will only be able to do around 5 to 10% of what the Panama Canal can do The only way that it can be faster if Panama can’t keep up with all the ships This rail line has been used for many years specially before the Panama Canal was opened. It is majorly out dated So even if china is funding it which I don’t think they are it will only be 5 to 10% of what the Panama Canal can do

Definitely a thing China does, they do the same here in Australia with goods going via New Zealand making country of origin very difficult to determine.
