I think people are criticizing the album because he gave the esthetic of an old school r&b project but it just regular, mid, Chris Brown music. Idk tho, nextime I get an over cooked burger from Five Guys, I won’t complain, I’ll just take my 20$ L and go home.

*taps mic* Well the difference between a painting and music is a painting is made to be admire and normally there is a story or message being told or a lesson to be learned. Same as music. Right. Difference is, I don't take paintings with me everywhere I go. I don't have more time and access to admire and/or critique the stories in this painting the same I would have a song or album. At home, at work, in school, in the car, on my phone, etc... SO. With music. This is everyday. Everywhere. This is going to touch MANY MORE ears than a painting will eyes. So when we critique artists in the music industry, it's not to take away from the "talent in the tip of their pinky" but to give our rightful critiques and/or suggestions as a consumer on what may or may not work next time. Less auto-tune, different genres, better song-writing, etc....So often enough, if this damn song is gonna come into my life periodically, intentionally or not, I'm gonna let yall know what I do and don't like after the 20th listen...I don't view a painting 20times. We have to realize with music, people are deemed "great musicians" or "amazing singers/songwriters" because of the listeners experience. There are some things that are undeniable and somethings that are subjective. Undeniable : Beyonce being a great vocalist. There is no way to lie or hide this. Subjective : Being a good songwriter. That's listeners choice. So Chris Brown being an "amazing hit maker" is because we, the consumers, make it a hit baby. We the consumers agree you can write good songs. But we, the consumers can also call out when "nah, that ain't it" or "this sounds a mess." Why is all good criticism okay but the bad criticism gets shunned or ignored. If it were so great, there would be no room for bad. With that, #BROWN gets a 6/10 for me. Love Chris but idk, I feel like the more songs on an album, the more likely it will fall out of cohesion, you'll get filler and throw aways, and the plot will be lost. This shoulda been chopped down to a good 13-16 songs so he could really have picked the BEST of the BEST to make the tracklist (and stick to the genre @ hand, no shade.) Like it's cute. But it's not 11:11, no Fortune, he'll it's not even a Heartbreak On A Full Moon and that had more songs but still a better selection. This albums feels like "11:11 just got an R&B grammy so let me make a "R&B" album...". Like it's not organic R&B. And this is from the same nigga who sang "No BS" , "2012", "Back To Sleep" and "Residuals." Like I know he has it in him, I just don't know why he forget to put it on this project. Idk. Most of these features were VERY unnecessary like NBA Youngboy and Sexyyy Red. Idk Chris. You've dropped worse projects but this, this wasn't it fam. And I feel like alot of it is OVER produced. Like. The lyrics, words and vocals all mesh into a cluster fuck of hot mess.

Here’s the difference between a painting and a song: we don’t take a painting with us everywhere we go. Music follows us home, at work, in the car, on our phones. That kind of access earns a different level of scrutiny. Giving an artist constructive feedback comes with being a listener. That ain’t disrespect, that’s the deal between the artist and the audience. Chris Brown is an unbelievable talent. That’s why we believe he can still drop a classic album. I’d love to see Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (or Raphael Saadiq) link up with CB and bring out the 10 very best songs he has in him.

I think the album is more classic R&B vibe instead of turnt up R&B we’re used to from him. It’s a good listen, on a calm vibe. To perfect it, it needs 4-5 more club smashes to really go off. Maybe he’ll do a deluxe version, but either way it goes I don’t get the online hate
