China has completely dominated solar installations, but the growth from India and the United States is impressive too.
India added about 37 GW of solar capacity in 2025, reaching 135.5 GW, up from 3.8 GW in 2014. The 2025 figure is an estimate, per Ember's yearly electricity data.
The competition is getting serious as China, the United States, and India race to expand their solar energy capacity.
