Take My Breath Away was written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock especially for the romantic scene of Top Gun (1986). The band Berlin almost refused the song, as it had not been composed by any of the members and did not match the new wave style they advocated at the time. There was strong internal tension in the group, and some members saw the track as something external. Even so, Moroder insisted and convinced the film's producers to include it. The result was historic: the song reached #1 in several countries, including the United States, and became the biggest hit of Berlin's career. In 1987, "Take My Breath Away" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and turned the band into a world-renowned name, something that ironically accelerated the breakup. The pressure and internal divergences increased so much that the group dissolved soon after. Tom Whitlock, the lyricist, was a mechanic and met Moroder by repairing his Ferrari. During the service, he offered to write lyrics, and ended up creating both "Take My Breath Away" and "Danger Zone". Giorgio Moroder even tested other singers before nominating Berlin, but the producers rejected them all.

“Love to Love You Baby” began as a short demo by Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder. When Casablanca boss Neil Bogart heard it, he asked them to extend it and the resulting 17-minute version helped turn Summer into a disco superstar.

Human League - Love Action (I Believe In Love) (#TOTP 1981) Semi-autobiographical track, written by Philip Oakey and Ian Burden. The band's first UK top 10 hit. The spoken lyric, "This is Phil talking", was a nod to Iggy Pop's "Jesus, this is Iggy" from his song Turn Blue.
