Yes or no question, over and over: “Can the Prime Minister or a minister exempt someone from the Conflict of Interest Act?” Champagne’s response? Classic Liberal word salad, smirks, attitude, deflection, and zero answers. Same game every single time. Fact: Section 12 (amending the Red Tape Reduction Act) lets a minister issue an exemption order for up to 3 years (some analyses say it can be extended) if they decide it’s in the “public interest” for innovation/competitiveness. I know why Trump is rooting foreign Carney. Just look at Carney’s record. Six days after Trump announced tariffs, Mark Carney moved his company headquarters out of Canada to New York City, right around the corner from Trump Tower. While Canadians are worried about losing their jobs, Mark Carney was moving jobs to the US. Carney’s leadership is weak, compromised and conflicted and Trump wants to exploit it. After 10 years in power the Liberals have given us the weakest economy in the G7 and driven a half-trillion dollars of investment from Canada to the United States. Now the Liberals want a fourth term? If Carney wins, Canada loses.

🚨In Mark Carney’s speech in Davos, we heard him promote respect for international rules of law and global norms while doing the opposite here in Canada. Right now, through the Budget Implementation Act, Mark Carney has proposed giving Cabinet Ministers the authority to exempt any individual, business, or organization from almost any federal law or regulation, with the sole exception of the Criminal Code and with very few meaningful limits. That alone should shock Canadians, but it gets worse. Under this proposal, a minister would be allowed to keep secret any information about those exemptions that the minister personally decides would be “inappropriate” to make public. So let’s be clear about what this means. We are told to respect the rule of law internationally while, at home, the Liberal government seeks the power to secretly decide who must follow the law, and who does not. That is an extraordinary level of double talk. And as a former banker, I find it equally troubling that Mark Carney is deliberately playing with the definition of “capital investment,” breaking from long-standing international financial standards, in order to deceive Canadians about the true size of the operating deficit. You cannot preach respect for international rules and standards abroad while undermining them at home. So the questions are simple: Will he respect the rule of law in Canada and retract the proposal that allows Cabinet ministers to secretly exempt entities from almost any federal law? Telesat is being sued, by creditors, for fraudulently transferring billions in assets to a subsidiary. “Telesat Canada is insolvent and lacks the financial wherewithal” Who owns the subsidiary then? This is just four days after Mark Carney told the people of Ireland that climate change is not longer a distant threat, but is here. Blanchet doesn't like the accounting on the "tax credits" for clean energy Carney finishes with "The truth is that right now Quebec is using 350,000 barrels of oil a day, so carbon has to be captured for the production and transport of those barrels."
