That’s true. Her words carry a lot more weight now that she has such a big platform, so her jokes are only going to cause more controversy. If there’s something she really needs to say, she needs to think about how it’s going to land with her readers

Racism is the main issue, but another is that she became popular as a romance writer... when she doesn't care about romance at all. She cares only about the smut, specifically including Ilya (w other white men). That's why her PR is so bad for a romance author: she isn't one.

she doesn’t have it in her. i’ve given up any hope. but i’ll be pleasantly surprised if she does show some reflection. she seems to have taken the flippant, head in the sand approach to any feedback or critical thinking of her own to unpack these themes.

@youwannapretty it’s the fact that other articles began so early on to talk about ilya/scott and leaving shane out of the conversation - it’s seems like a micro aggression that pushes out poc characters, especially within a fandom that’s so diverse.

It made sense to me when I learned she’s married to a bi man (NOT biphobia - included bc Ilya) & the marriage is only open on his side. She said she’s“too tired” to find someone else/fine with it. She’s projecting & wanting others to accept her relationship dynamic.
