Quentin Tarantino recounts seeing his first blaxploitation film with an all-Black audience at nine years old. The movie was Jim Brown’s “Black Gunn,” and the experience changed his life forever… “During this time, my mother was dating a football player named Reggie. So in an effort to score points with her, Reggie asked to hang out with me. Being a football player, he asked her, "Does he like football?" She told him “No, he likes movies.” Well, as luck would have it, so did Reggie. And apparently, he saw every blaxploitation flick that came out. So late one Saturday afternoon, Reggie, who I had never met before, dropped by the apartment, picked me up and took me to the movies. He took me to a part of town I had never been before. I had been to the big movie theater districts in Hollywood and Westwood, but this place was different. This theater row had huge cinemas on both sides of the street, which went down for about eight blocks. I realized when I got older, Reggie took me to the theater district in downtown Los Angeles, located on Broadway Boulevard. All of them were blaxploitation films. Films I had never seen, the new movie on Broadway, having opened just last Wednesday, was Blaxploitation superstar Jim Brown's new motion picture, "Black Gunn." I had seen the TV spots a lot that week, and it looked really exciting. I even remember the radio spot proclaiming, "Jim Brown was gonna get the mother who killed his brother." Well, "Black Gunn" was definitely the movie Reggie wanted to see. One being the connoisseur that he apparently was, it was the only one of the movies playing he hadn't seen. Also, it was pretty fucking obvious he dugged Jim Brown. This thing, the Saturday night showing of the brand new Jim Brown movie, the huge auditorium, I mean, it was probably 1400 seats, wasn't exactly packed, but it was definitely busy and buzzing with anticipation. My little face was the only white one in the audience. This was to be my first movie in a, except for me, all black movie theater in a black neighborhood. This was 1972. Then, on a downtown Saturday night, Jim Brown's new movie, "Black Gun," began flickering through the film projector shutter gate for an extremely excited audience of about 850 black folks, 800 of them male. And frankly, I've never been the same. To one degree or another, I've spent my entire life since both attending movies and making them, trying to recreate the experience of watching a brand new Jim Brown film on a Saturday night in a black cinema in 1972. There was no comparison. When Jim Brown sat behind his desk and Bruce Glover, Crispin’s father, and his other white gangster henchmen threatened him, and Gunn hits a button under the desk and a sawed off shotgun dropped in his lap (see below), the massive theater full of black males cheered in a way the nine-year-old me had never experienced in a movie theater before. At the time, living with a single mother, it was probably the most masculine experience I'd ever been part of. And when the movie ended with a freeze frame of Jim Brown as Gunn, the guy behind Reggie made me proclaimed out loud, "Now that's a movie about a bad motherfucker!" Management and middle management have been efficiently taken out. Their entire HQ is gone. Whoever has access to any kind of money has a big incentive to just run away with it. It's pretty genius the way they used the pager bombs to throw every level of Hezbollah into chaos first, then attack the leadership, compounding the chaos exponentially. Whatever remains will likely either collapse on its own or keep getting picked apart by Israel into nothing salvageable. I don't know if people understand how serious it is. I'd say its bigger than all the Hamas leadership that were killed combined. He was the head of Hezbollah for 32 years and one of the prominent voices to call for the destruction of Israel. One of the greatest intelligence led operations of all time in history. Make it known that electronic communications had been compromised forcing them to pagers, detonate the pagers forcing them to radios, detonate radios forcing them to meet face to face...kill them with airstrikes. Its an utter masterstroke. IDF sources today were saying that Netanyahu's UN speech was a specifically-planned feint to trick senior Hezbollah leadership into meeting and that the operation to kill Nasrallah (Operation New Order) was given carte blanche to attack him as soon as they found him. Lebanon isn’t at war with Israel. Hezbollah is. Time for Lebanon to retake control of its own territory. Just imagine the Lebanese people actually controlling their own country, gaining stability and building their economy. Who knows, they might even have a peace treaty with Israel, which Israelis will welcome. When you take out the bad actors all sorts of far fetched ideas are suddenly possible.

Go look at the Oscar nomination requirements. ‌ Like, I saw an article one time on Snapchat, and it was called 5 signs you might be gay and not know it. Like, what are you what are you trying to do with that? Are you trying to convince young impressionable kids, maybe a young kid that's a little bit more feminine that he's gay? Let him figure out his shit on his own. It's like, I personally do not give a f**k you are gay or trans or think you're a dog or a platypus or some sh*t. ‌ They are literally creating their own enemies by doing this because they take people like me that are just neutral and don't give a f**k. From Eric Vishria on how the top AI founders are building products completely opposite of the SaaS era: "One of the things that is really different in the AI world versus the SaaS world, is that in the SaaS world, over and over again, you had people who really understood the customer. And the problem. And then they understood a domain. They understood what the technology was more or less capable of. But it wasn't a real question of if you could build something or not. For example, take Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow. CRM existed before Salesforce. HR management existed before Workday. Same thing with ServiceNow. So in every case, Salesforce followed Siebel. Workday followed Peoplesoft. ServiceNow followed Peregrine and Remedy, and others. So they were just kind of, cloud SaaS versions of the prior generation product. They just understood the customers. They understood the problem. And they were just like, here's a better version. And that evolved a little bit over time in SaaS land. But that's what it is. And so product development in that way was done by people who really understood the customer and the problems. And then just took advantage of the next wave. And this is almost diametrically opposite of product development in the AI era. When I look at the teams that are having the most success today, they have intimate knowledge of the models. They are right on the frontier of understanding which models are better at what, and why, and when. And what they're going to be good at and what they're not going to be good at. And what they're spending their time on, is figuring out how do I apply this capability of this model to this domain or to this user. So they're actually working inside out or technology out, versus customer problem in. And of course, they understand the customer problem. And a lot of times they have firsthand knowledge of it. But they're really close to the metal and capability, and they're applying it. And I think this is a really different way to develop products than in SaaS. I started my career as a product manager a long time ago, and it's almost the complete opposite of everything you learned. "Listen to the customer, understand it, then bring it back to the engineering and product teams." If you did that right now, ask a bunch of customers what they want out of AI, and you brought it back, for the most part, it may not be possible today with today's technology. Whereas the teams that are winning right now really understand the technology and are applying it out. And so I think this reversal matters. I think it's a big difference in terms of how companies are getting built. And maybe even the types of entrepreneurs that will be successful. I'm not sure. You're seeing some real change there. Look at the Bret Taylor's at Sierra. That's a super, super technical founder who really gets it. Brett and Clay really get it. You look at Michael and his co-founders at Cursor. They're super technical founders and they get it. They all really understand what these things can and can't do. And that's a pretty different dynamic relative to the way the best SaaS companies got built."
