Pune: Kalepadal Police Book 15 Individuals And Garage Operators For Modified ‘Pataka’ Silencers, Seize 11 Motorcycles After Midnight Biker Menace Kalepadal Police have registered a criminal case against 18 individuals, including 15 motorcycle riders and three garage operators, for allegedly creating panic by riding motorcycles fitted with illegal modified "Pataka" silencers that produced deafening firecracker-like sounds in Mohammadwadi and surrounding areas. Police have seized 11 motorcycles and destroyed the illegal modified silencers. The action follows multiple complaints from residents after a group of bikers allegedly rode recklessly between 11 pm on July 31 and 5 am on August 1 across Kad Nagar Chowk, Nyati Chowk, Raheja Vista Chowk, Undri, and Mohammadwadi, revving modified silencers that emitted explosive sounds. Videos of the riders were widely circulated on social media, prompting public outrage. According to police, several residents contacted the Kalepadal Police Station, stating that the loud noises created an atmosphere of fear during the night, with elderly citizens and children being startled awake. Acting on the complaints, a special police team gathered technical evidence and intelligence to identify the bikers. Based on the investigation, police traced the suspects and registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Motor Vehicles Act, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules for reckless driving, creating public nuisance, and using illegal vehicle modifications. Police seized 11 motorcycles, most of them Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles fitted with modified exhaust systems designed to produce loud firecracker-like sounds. DANGEROUS MOTORCYCLIST TAKEN OFF THE STREETS The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t play when it comes to traffic safety. We’ve heard your complaints loud and clear! Dangerous motorcyclists putting lives at risk will not be tolerated. On May 15th, a reckless rider turned a high-crash corridor into his personal racetrack. Now, he’s behind bars. At PM, Deputy Vincent with our Traffic Unit spotted a white and orange sport bike speeding 67 MPH in a 45 MPH zone on University Blvd. When he attempted to stop the rider, the suspect intentionally fled, weaving through traffic, and even using the bicycle lane to pass vehicles (including another deputy) at high speed. Deputies Montgomery and Brown coordinated quickly, blocking the suspect at a red light, removing the rider from the motorcycle. Brandon Watts, age 40, from Denver was taken into custody without injury to deputies or damage to vehicles. He is now facing charges of Felony Eluding, Habitual Traffic Offender, No Insurance, Unregistered Vehicle, Obstruction, Reckless Driving, and he had Multiple Active Warrants. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is initiating the vehicle forfeiture process to seize the motorcycle used in this criminal activity. If you use a vehicle to commit crimes - especially to flee from law enforcement - you risk losing your ride. “Let this be a warning,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly. “If you run from us in Douglas County, there are consequences, and one of them might be forfeiting your vehicle.”

Unable to brake in time, the Tata Curvv reportedly rammed into the car from behind. Instead of accepting responsibility, the occupants became aggressive, allegedly attempted to assault the driver, Captured even in Dashcam, and even damaged the car’s windows. Thankfully, he managed to leave the spot before the situation escalated further. It’s disturbing to see incidents like this unfold simply because of ego and road rage. A written complaint has already been submitted to Rupnagar Police. Strict action should be taken against such individuals to ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens and to prevent such behavior from becoming common on our roads.
