🚨They got him 3 days later In April 2022, Phoenix police responded to a gas station after Nicholas Cowan's ex-girlfriend called 911, reporting that Cowan was suicidal and armed. Officer Denise Bruce-Jones, along with another officer, met the woman at the station. As they spoke, Cowan arrived in a Prius. Body-camera footage shows Cowan firing at Bruce-Jones from his vehicle. She was hit and critically injured. Cowan fled, sparking a three-day manhunt before his capture. He was wounded in the shootout and treated at a hospital. Later, Cowan faced multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder. In June 2022, Cowan pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was also charged with possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, drive-by shooting, and aggravated assault. Cowan’s capture came after a tip led police to a Scottsdale rental property. During the manhunt, three people were accused of aiding him. Bruce-Jones, a 24-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, was released from rehab and continued her recovery at home.
