As for the fruit, yeah, I know it has a will of its own. But at that moment, if Shanks hadn’t kept the fruit there, Luffy wouldn’t have eaten it then. He might’ve eaten it sometime later. The point is that Shanks still played a direct role in Luffy eating it at that specific moment.
