Graphs and loops are the interesting shift. In production, I’d add two boring questions: what state is this loop allowed to change, and what does a retry do after a partial write? Better reasoning still needs an explicit boundary.

this is the right direction, once the work is a graph instead of a prompt the places where you need a hard boundary become obvious

The shift from prompting to graph-based orchestration is real. Most teams still treat agents like chatbots with extra steps. The actual productivity gains come from wiring them into existing workflows, not from giving them more autonomy.

Graphs and loops are amazing, but if you fail to understand what goes inside each visualization, or struggle with creativity, you’re going to have a very hard time building like this.

The linear prompt is gonna become soon a historical artifact, because topology is the new f*cking primitive. Amazing times ahead!

The real upgrade with a graph is that the gaps become inspectable. You can point at a node with no reviewer downstream, or an edge that drops state, in a way you never could with a prompt that just felt unreliable. Two nodes most graphs are still missing: one that checks work it did not do, and one that writes down what the run learned so the next traversal does not start in the same place.

Graphs and loops beat one-shot prompts — agree. The failure mode we keep hitting: the graph looks correct while durable state is wrong. Session dies mid-node, "done" flips without an openable artifact, re-run forks a second file. Graph engineering without checkpoints = prettier false progress. Own the state machine, not just the edges.

Makes sense — though the interesting question is what's left for the human once agents build the agents. Probably the one loop that can still say "no" when the system is confident and wrong. Everything else moves up a layer, that part stays.
