Awards mean nothing in this day and age. It's often given to the one that checks the most boxes. For example, Hogwarts Legacy was well received by its player base and was also one of the best-selling games of its year, yet it was shut out from the Game Awards.

The reason why a lot of AAAs fail is that they don't really try to make a game that's fun or unique but instead try to chase trends, often due to investors who wants GotYs. Those that impress try their own thing and usually do so without expectations breathing down their necks.

It does, the team out performed pretty much all other developers. They fixed every problem and and enhanced the experience for the players and continue to. They have my vote for sure.
