They had an opportunity when Trump put up for nomination for key posts at the DOJ individuals who were not going to preserve the Independence…. They had the opportunity to oppose them, and they didn't. They confirmed people like Pam Bondi, people like Jeanine Pirro, knowing that his intent was to sic the department of justice on his political opponents. And you are watching the disintegration of our democracy in front of our eyes. And if Republicans continue to offer milquetoast criticism and do nothing practical about it, they may rue that day. Our democracy may not survive until the next presidential election.

Well said, Catherine. TDS is a very real mental illness. We have been trying to help by calling it what it is, but they can't take an ounce of constructive criticism, so it becomes a slam instead. But yeah, I agree-- the collective mental breakdown has to be close by now. They can't get much crazier at this point. Something's gotta give eventually. Democracy is never of a kind where the same party will ever come to power. We have seen in our lifetimes, the change takes place at state level, at panchayat level, at municipal level, that's a democratic process. But one thing is for sure, there has to be continuity of development, continuity of our civilisational ethos, and that comes only from one aspect. We must respect democratic culture. India is perhaps the only country in the world that has constitutionally structured democracy at all levels. Before 30 years, we had constitutional democracy only in the State legislature and Parliament. But now we have constitutional democracy at the village level, at panchayat level, and the district level. #RajyaSabha
