It’s not the ATM or Bitcoins fault. Is it Western Unions fault when people are scammed into sending money that way? I hate that people are being scammed but it’s about becoming educated and informed, and not falling for scams.

You failed to explain how the ATM or Circle K has anything to do with this? Is it also Verizon’s fault since they used a cell phone?

is not the atm or the btc that is the problem. as those r just tools the scammers use to facilitate the scam

This is like blaming the gun when people get shot. But then again, who expects honest reporting from the major media outlets any more?

It's the scammers, not the crypto. This is like blaming guns for shootings, or blaming spoons for fat people.

@Alexeikhru53336 People are buying bitcoin, then sending it to scammers, just to be clear. Nothing wrong with the machines or bitcoin

pertinent questions: what % of circle K's are owned or managed by indians? what % of the scammers are indian? is there a hidden connection?

They can trace the address the scammer dropped btw.

Crypto isn't the issue here, its people! Prior to BTC, they used WesternUnion, Moneygram and pre-loaded debit cards. Scammers will always find a way. If we always crapped on every new technology, cars would be outlawed due to the number of deaths they cause. Computers would be banned due to the number of scammers using them (and perverts, etc.) - new technologies always have advantages and disadvantages, but banning them, and talking shit about them, isn't the way!

Wait till you hear how many scams are settled in USD. USD is the most criminal currency in the history of humanity.

This … if true…. Is NOT a CRYPTO SCAM….. this an ATM SCAM. I have seen your content before and I like it. But this is misleading.

i legit saw a lady doing this once I told the cashier, he didnt seem to care (Jeet ofcourse)

great time to remind everyone that apple allegedly knew of its gift cards Indian scammers problem and just quietly let boomers of america get scammed

Sounds like people need to take personal responsibility for themselves. Boomers have been the most stubborn/delayed generation to transfer wealth to their kin. This is what happens when you let someone born in a time before the internet hold onto their money past the age of 80.

Regulate old people’s phones. Only 5 contacts can call them lol Old people answer random numbers with Indian accents telling them to drop off a bag full of cash in a bush for a emergency bank transaction and they do it

Its all on the bitcoin ledger you can see where the money went to what wallet...... unlike if you used us dollars or us change and once used can never be traced again.....atlest they can monitor that bitcoin adress and there is a pattern if they actually want to stop the crime...

Buying Bitcoin like this isn't very savvy.

This has nothing to do with circle k

Seems like a legitimate way to buy Bitcoin But the scammers get victims to buy Bitcoin for the scammers instead

Should we hold the banks accountable? If a bank can’t identify the scam when an older victim is withdrawing large amounts of cash, how is the Bitcoin ATM going to stop it even while having warnings on the screen and physically on the machine. Think about that.

Please stop using Bitcoin ATMs

But your not giving us the full story? What is the scam... It's hardly #bitcoindepot or @CircleKStores fault... If you don't tell people what the scams are and how it works, how are older people suppose to look out for it with such vague reporting! Do better!

Why does it seem to me that both companies are more than likely in on the scam?? Especially the Circle K store. You almost need someone there to be your eyes and ears at times.

They also use Google Play cards or boxes full of cash. Is Google or UPS responsible as well?

Blame the spoon for being fat!!

Wait, are they really blaming Circle K and Bitcoin Depot for people not understanding when they are getting scammed? GTFOH!

Another good bitcoin use case found.

It no different than cash wire transfers from banks. Banks facilitate the wire transfers from their customers to scammers everyday. You would be very surprised. Even after the bank attempts to warn the customer of the potential scam. The customers often insist of the transfer.

Holy cow! Do not use them!

Alrighty boys, someone let me hear the details of the scam. I’m tryna brush up on my anti fraud skills

Should those BTC be blacklisted on the blockchain? Isn't there a way to do that? Label them as stolen.

Ppl are so f-ing dumb

You’re retarded if you’re buying bitcoin from an ATM

Just go to your bank and ask them how many cash wire transfers they do each day that is a likely scam. This is not a crypto issue. The issue is education and elderly believing the lies of scammers.

So instead of buying Buying BTC from your couch, people take cash out of their bank account at an atm, then walk to another atm to deposit cash into a BTC atm with the highest market fees/spreads and then proceed to send it to an unknown address. Retail is not ready for BTC 🤣
