At the Basilica of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls, Pope Leo joined representatives from various Christian denominations and communities in remembering the examples of new martyrs killed for the faith in the 21st century. He highlighted that these are the men and women to whom Jesus ascribes the Beatitudes. The price they pay for their fidelity to the Gospel, dedication to justice, and unity with those most in need is their lives. The Pope urged everyone to be inspired by their lives to courageously bear witness to the faith and through that, be “leaven for a peaceful and fraternal humanity.”

All through this crazy "bear market" artists have continued to show up because this AI video thing is happening now...not tomorrow but today in front of us all! To be here means that you were here when the seeds for the future AI filmmaking was being experimented with. With over 130 artists from around the world, experimenting and pushing their practice to new levels, we come to a year that will go down in history as the first period of AI video with so much production and experimentation. It is not that AI video didn't exist before, but 2023-2024 is the year with the most technical advancements that have ever happened for this medium, and the number of creators using the tools have come to a critical mass. This period is also very much based on creating visual narratives and storytelling. It is also about control and guiding the hallucinations into the artists' visual language. This period is about visual narratives that contain stories or experiments like we had not seen before. The Daily NFT collection will also contain a mix of possibly all AI tools available to date. From Runway to Kling to a few more we will announce shortly. The Daily collection is one of a kind, built in public, during the work market for NFTs, but with some of the most talented artists in the world, pushing, pushing, pushing. Today our patron BAFTA award winner author and former doctor Adam Kay is calling on every NHS organisation in the country to plant a memorial tree to honour the lives of health workers who have died by suicide. The statistics are shocking - one doctor takes their life every three weeks, and one nurse takes their own life every week. Since we launched our National Memorial Tree campaign, in association with Adam, many hospitals across the country have planted a tree as a poignant reminder of those staff who have taken their own lives. In our world today, Russia and the CCP are existential threats to democracy, and that's pretty unsettling. Even scarier though is that in the U.S.— the country seen as a beacon of democracy and freedom by people around the globe—one party has been hijacked by MAGA, and has begun showing the same traits as dictators and their regimes! Dictators often claim to be “chosen by God” but God does not choose, rather God gave each of us the ability to choose for ourselves, and to face the consequences. My grandparents were tortured and killed by a dictatorship, and my parents have lived their entire lives scarred by those experiences. Today, I do what I can to help others perceive the truth and nuance of life by accessing information from multiple sources. I hope, through my translations, to help people escape the information bubbles which so easily form online and make informed choices. I'm committed to doing everything I can to ensure my kids and their children won’t fall prey to the same dark patterns of dictatorship which ravaged my family. Free your mind and free the world! We would like to spare a moment before the ceasefire comes into effect to express our deep gratitude for the countless guardians of Gaza who have sacrificed everything, in their many roles from defending our homeland and preserving our way of life in the tireless pursuit of liberation. The civil defense who have been putting their lives on the line day in and day out throughout this genocidal war in the hopes of recovering the survivors and martyrs from under the rubble of Israel’s suffocating constant bombardments whilst putting themselves in the occupations line of fire. The journalists that have been a constant target for exposing the occupations brutality to the world in the hopes someone would listen, would bear witness to the never ending crimes committed towards the Palestinians, to their suffering and to their humanity, to their need to breathe. To the medical personnel who have voluntarily gone without rest whilst working constantly to save one more life from being stolen even when the hospitals have been besieged with doctors being kidnapped and tortured just for refusing to leave their patients until their own last breath. To the people of Gaza who deserve the chance to live and for this 469 day nightmare to end, for them to have the opportunity to rebuild and to thrive in their homeland.

Today marks Contemporary Martyrs Day in the Coptic Orthodox Church, and the 10th Anniversary of #The21 #LibyaMartyrs, a day of solemn remembrance while at the same time being a moment of recognition of their incredible strength, resilience, grace and witness, as well as their families’ remarkable ability to graciously forgive. All in all, and somewhat ironically and counterintuitively, an occasion for thanksgiving and celebration. We give thanks for their powerful witness and the encouragement that they have given to the whole world…the world that they changed on that day, on the beach, in those distinctive orange suits. They have become icons in the most selfless and impactful way. On this important day we pray repose for our Martyrs, continuing comfort for their families, loved ones and communities, forgiveness for those who contributed to the taking of their lives in every way, and God’s peace upon His world, that this inhumanity may never be repeated. Remember their names. Remember their faces. Remember their story. Today, during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye to Ukraine we discussed diplomacy, all the real opportunities that exist and those that must be created. I also had a good meeting with U.S. Senators Graham and Blumenthal. I thank them for their support of Ukraine, their support for diplomacy, and their efforts to bring moral clarity to the situation. It was Russia that started this war. It is Russia that must stop the killings and the destruction of lives. It is very important that this is voiced in the media, in Congress, and in all the world’s influential offices. If Russia continues to speak in the language of ultimatums, if it tries to blackmail the world with the continuation of war, it must receive a strong response — a response from the United States, from Europe, and from everyone around the world who wants peace and who has declared their support for a ceasefire and for diplomacy.
