Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s cricket star and a global icon of Afghan cricket, said during the Cricket World Cup that he hopes Afghanistan will one day field a national women’s cricket team. This is not the first time he has spoken out. After the fall of Afghanistan, Khan called for Afghan women and girls to be allowed their right to education. He emphasized that women should also have the chance to play cricket and that the ICC must take this issue seriously. Afghan women and girls deserve the opportunity to compete internationally, and their participation will not only strengthen Afghan cricket but also inspire a new generation of young female athletes across the country.
