The footage shows a man confronting a landscaping crew after workers reportedly cleared weeds and removed rocks from the property. Accounts accompanying the video claim the parties agreed to payment of $650 divided among the four workers, owed when the work was completed. During the argument, the man accuses the workers of sleeping on the property and questions how they could earn more cutting grass than he does as an engineer. “You’re going to tell me that you, cutting grass, make more than I do, and I’m an engineer?” he says in Spanish. He tells the workers they should study if they want better-paying jobs. He also calls one worker a vulgar insult commonly translated as “piece of shit.” The confrontation then turns to immigration. “They should deport all of you,” the man says. In another portion, he says certain Cuban immigrants “bust their asses” to survive before accusing the workers of being disrespectful. The confrontation escalates to include a threat of physical violence if the workers returned seeking payment. The homeowner challenged them to return after dark if they “really have the balls,” telling them to “come at night and do something” and warning, “Then you’ll see.” The remarks made during an already heated payment dispute could reasonably be interpreted as an attempt to physically intimidate the workers. A Facebook repost claims the workers were not paid because the agreement was verbal and there was no contract. Searches of public reporting and indexed police material found no confirmed criminal complaint, wage claim, arrest, or citation connected to the encounter. Florida law does not require most short-term service agreements to be in writing. Oral contracts can be enforceable if a party can prove the essential terms: what work was to be done, the price or rate, and that both sides accepted the deal. Completed work can support a claim for payment even without a signed estimate. Miami-Dade small-claims court handles disputes up to $8,000, an amount well above the $650 described online.
